Sahibzada Farhan, the experienced Pakistani batter has been selected as the captain for the Pakistan’s team at the Asian games 2026.

A 15-member squad for the tournament has also been announced.

The location of the tournament will be in Aichi, Japan. Japan is not usually known for cricket but it seems it is trying to enter the massive cricket market.

The T20 international competition for men is set to begin on September 24.

The knockout matches whose winners will receive medals will begin from October 3rd.

The new captain Sahibzada Farhan has played for Pakistan in 46 T20 internationals. The side which he will be leading is a blend of experience and talent that is in its emerging phase.

Farhan is currently 30 years old and has scored 10-half centuries and two centuries. He has scored a total of 1305 runs in the format.  

The vice-captain was also named with the squad announcement and Abdul Samad has been named as the vice-captain.

The squad for Asian games 2026 is a fresh squad. Many of the players have not made their international debuts yet.

The players who will be getting their first opportunity to perform are Akif Javed, the fast bowler, the all-rounder Maaz Sadaqat and Saad Masood.

The players will be eager to represent their country in the international format.

As part of preparations for the continental event, 14 members of the squad will participate in the National Cricket Academy’s white-ball training camp, which is scheduled to commence in Lahore on June 15.

The camp is expected to help players fine-tune their skills ahead of the competition.

The men’s cricket tournament at the Asian Games 2026 will take place at Korogi Athletic Park in Aichi Prefecture.

Pakistan’s squad comprises Sahibzada Farhan (captain), Abdul Samad (vice-captain), Abrar Ahmed, Ahmed Daniyal, Akif Javed, Ali Raza, Arafat Minhas, Haider Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Maaz Sadaqat, Mohammad Salman Mirza, Saad Masood, Saim Ayub, Sufiyan Muqeem and Usman Khan.
