Several Pakistani-American candidates have secured significant victories in the US state elections, with multiple candidates winning or retaining seats in state legislatures across Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Texas and Georgia.

According to US media reports, Pakistani-American Republican candidate Maryam Sabiha won Pennsylvania House District 131, defeating Republican candidate Milo McKenzie. Her victory secured her a seat in the Pennsylvania State Assembly as a Democratic candidate.

Maryam Sabiha’s win was among seven seats where Democratic candidates defeated their Republican rivals. US media also reported that a majority of Pakistani-American candidates contesting state-level elections emerged victorious.

In Connecticut, Pakistani-American Democrat Maryam Khan won the State Senate District 2 seat. Meanwhile, Saud Anwar secured re-election in Senate District 3, retaining his position in the Connecticut State Senate.

In Texas, Pakistani-origin Salman Bhojani won re-election to the State Assembly from District 92, securing 67 percent of the vote. Pakistani-American Suleman Lalani also retained his seat in District 76.

Georgia witnessed another Pakistani-American electoral success as Farooq Mughal won the State Assembly seat from District 105, securing 60.8 percent of the vote.
