Pakistan's youth can now get overseas jobs with Parwaaz Card scheme: here’s how

The Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF) and the Bank of Punjab (BOP) have signed an agreement to launch the Chief Minister’s (CM) Parwaaz Card Scheme for International Placement. This means now Pakistan’s youth looking for job opportunities overseas can get one with the help of this scheme. Here is how.

Eligibility and  Rs1 million loan

Under the scheme, eligible candidates will be able to get interest free loans of up to Rs1 million. The funds will then help to cover expenses before leaving for overseas jobs.

The program is open to workers from multiple sectors. These include construction, retail, caregiving, hospitality, and other related fields.

According to the reports, the scheme will help remove financial barriers that often stop young people from taking jobs abroad.

Around 45,000 people are expected to benefit from the initiative over the next two years.

How the scheme works

The PSDF will manage applicant registration, onboarding, and coordination with Overseas Employment Promoters, according to this scheme.

The Bank of Punjab will then handle the verification, loan processing, approvals, disbursement, and repayment.

Overseas jobs for Pakistan youth

The scheme will help skilled youth in Punjab to find employment opportunities abroad.

The agreement was signed by BOP Chief Digital Officer Nofel Daud and PSDF Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Khan.

Chairperson of the CM Punjab Taskforce on Skills Development, Adnan Afzal Chattha, said that the Parwaaz Card shows the Punjab government’s commitment to helping young people access international job opportunities. He further added that the initiative will also help increase foreign remittances.

Secretary of the Skills Development and Employment Department, Nadir Chattha, said Pakistan’s skilled workforce has strong potential in international labour markets. He also said that the scheme will help connect trained workers with global employers.

BOP President Zafar Masud said the bank is also working with the State Bank of Pakistan to explore linking the scheme with Roshan Digital Accounts in the future.

PSDF CEO Ahmed Khan said financial difficulties should not stop people from pursuing overseas employment opportunities.
