Dubai Police has warned pedestrians against crossing roads at undesignated locations, reminding the public that violations can result in a fine of Dh400 under Article 89 of the Federal Traffic Law.

Brigadier Majid Sultan Al Suwaidi, Director of the General Department of Police Stations, urged pedestrians to use designated crossings, check for approaching vehicles before crossing and obey pedestrian traffic signals at intersections.

The warning comes as Dubai Police has launched a special awareness campaign to promote pedestrian safety, encourage responsible road behaviour and reduce traffic accidents. As part of the campaign, motorists have also been urged to reduce their speed and give way to pedestrians to help ensure safer roads across the emirate.

Brigadier Majid Sultan Al Suwaidi urged pedestrians to cross roads only at designated crossing points, check for approaching vehicles before crossing and obey pedestrian signals at intersections.

He also called on motorists to remain alert for pedestrians and maintain safe speeds, particularly in areas with heavy foot traffic. Under Article 89 of the Federal Traffic Law, pedestrians who disregard traffic signals or cross roads at undesignated locations face a fine of Dh400, Brigadier Al Suwaidi said.

Authorities have urged residents and visitors to follow road safety guidelines and cooperate with the relevant departments to prevent accidents. Brigadier Al Suwaidi reaffirmed the police force’s commitment to improving road safety, raising public awareness and protecting all road users across the emirate.
