The Punjab Horticulture Authority (PHA) is set to introduce a centralised digital portal aimed at tracking the performance of the staff.
The major focus to do so is improving oversight, accountability and service delivery across horticultural agencies in the province.
Speaking on Thursday, PHA Director General Raja Mansoor Ahmad said the new system would bring together key administrative functions on a single digital platform, enabling authorities to monitor operations more efficiently and maintain up-to-date records.
According to the director general, the portal will include human resource management tools, mapping of parks and green belts, and real-time monitoring of field vehicles. It will also maintain a digital inventory of machinery and equipment used by district agencies, including tractors, water bowsers and other horticultural assets.
A public helpline will form a central part of the initiative, allowing residents to submit complaints and feedback regarding parks, green spaces and related services. The system will automatically direct reports to the relevant department for action.
Officials say the portal will also integrate several existing PHA services, including the Adopt-a-Park programme, nursery management, plant inventories and a digital attendance system, with the aim of improving monitoring and operational efficiency.
The authority has recently expanded its Adopt-a-Park scheme beyond Lahore to several cities that have come under its jurisdiction, including Jhang, Rahim Yar Khan, Khushab, Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura, Okara, Gujrat, Jhelum, Murree, Khanewal and Muzaffargarh.
Mr Ahmad said field teams would regularly update the portal to ensure information remains current and accessible for planning and management purposes.
He described the initiative as part of the Punjab government’s wider effort to promote transparent and technology-driven governance, adding that centralised data management would help improve coordination between field agencies and provincial authorities.
Alongside the digital transformation programme, PHA has intensified beautification efforts across the province. The authority is carrying out flower plantation and maintenance campaigns while developing new parks in cities including Sargodha, Multan, Faisalabad and Rawalpindi.
Mr Ahmad said rehabilitation and upgrading work is also underway at existing recreational facilities, while decorative installations, including ornamental displays and illuminated structures, are being introduced to enhance the appearance of urban centres across Punjab.
