Speaking after meeting the prime minister, Razia said she was delighted to be honoured for her actions. She recalled that she noticed the fire during medication rounds and immediately rushed inside to help, without thinking about her own safety. “I told the other sister to save the babies,” she said.

Razia recalled that one of the newborns was extremely small, prompting her to carry the baby to safety. She handed the infant over to someone she knew and then returned to the building to rescue other children. However, while she was attempting to save more babies, a sudden blast occurred, plunging the area into darkness.

Razia is being hailed as a national hero across Pakistan for her extraordinary bravery. Razia did not think about her own safety when she entered the burning room. Her only concern was saving the children. In an interview with the newspaper, Razia said she did not act to become a hero, but simply to fulfil her duty as a nurse and a mother.
