Muhammad Arsalan, the main accused in the rape and murder of 8-year-old girl Mantha Zahra in Sargodha was killed in a police encounter on Wednesday.
According to CCD (Crime Control Department) officials, accused Arsalan was being taken to recover evidence when the accused’s accomplices suddenly opened fire on the CCD team near Jhal Chakian Teen Pali.
In the retaliatory action, the main accused Arsalan was killed on the spot. After the incident, additional police personnel were called, while special teams were sent to arrest the absconding accused.
It should be noted that the accused Arsalan had confessed that he had raped and killed the minor girl Mantha Zahra, after which the case had caused intense public outrage.
A CCTV footage of this sad incident has also emerged, in which the innocent girl was last seen entering a shop. Later, the girl’s body was recovered from the third floor of the same shop.
After the incident, the brutal main accused, Muhammad Arsalan, managed to escape from the scene, but the police traced and arrested him with the help of modern technology.
It should be noted that a case was registered at the City Police Station in connection with the incident of a eight-year-old girl who was raped and murdered. According to the police, the case was registered under murder and other relevant sections on the complaint of the victim’s father.
After the case was registered, the police expanded the scope of the investigation and took five suspects into custody.
