Princess Eugenie has given birth to a baby girl at a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal. The baby was born on Monday at 18:20 BST, weighing 6 lbs 9 oz.
This is the third child for the princess and her husband, Jack Brooksbank. The couple already has two sons, August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, born in 2021, and Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank, born in 2023.
Buckingham Palace shared the happy news in a short statement. It read: “Their Majesties, the King and Queen, and other members of the Royal Family were delighted to be informed of the news.”
Princess Eugenie, 36, also shared her joy on Instagram. She wrote, “Jack and I are so excited to announce Baby Girl Brooksbank!! We are beyond in love with our girlie.” The couple has not yet chosen a name for their daughter and plans to share it later.
A New Place in Line to the Throne
The baby girl will not hold the title HRH, but she becomes 15th in line to the throne. Her arrival moves her ahead of Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, who is the couple’s great-uncle.
Princess Eugenie and Jack split their time between two homes, one in Portugal and the other at Ivy Cottage, in the grounds of Kensington Palace.
Pregnancy and Family Background
The couple announced the pregnancy in May. Eugenie posted a photo of her young sons holding a baby scan with the caption “Baby Brooksbank due 2026!” Buckingham Palace also confirmed the news, saying, “His Majesty the King has been informed and is delighted with the news.”
Eugenie and Jack married in October 2018 and have grown their family steadily since. The new baby girl is the fifth grandchild of Eugenie’s father, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
King Charles removed Andrew’s royal titles, styles, and honours last year, following more details about his connection to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. The decision significantly changed his standing within the royal family. When Andrew lost his titles, both of his daughters kept theirs, though neither works as a senior royal.
The family now joyfully welcomes their baby girl, and fans across the world have sent warm wishes to the couple.
