Private schools have urged the Punjab government to shorten the ongoing summer vacation and allow educational institutions to reopen from August 3, arguing that an earlier reopening would not negatively affect students’ education.
According to details, a meeting of the Private School Solutions of Pakistan was held under the chairmanship of its President, Malik Abdul Samad. The participants discussed the challenges facing private educational institutions, government restrictions, and possible measures to ensure the continuity of academic activities.
The representative body of private schools called on the Punjab government to reduce the duration of the summer break and permit private educational institutions to resume classes before the officially scheduled reopening date.
During the meeting, participants appealed to the government to allow schools to reopen on August 3, 2026, instead of the current reopening date of August 24, 2026.
They said reopening schools earlier would not disrupt students’ education and would enable institutions to continue their academic calendar and teaching activities without further delay.
Malik Abdul Samad also urged all unregistered private schools to complete their registration process immediately, stressing that only registered institutions that meet legal requirements can continue providing educational services on a permanent basis.
The Punjab government had earlier announced summer vacations for all public and private schools and colleges across the province from May 22, 2026, to August 23, 2026. Under the current schedule, all educational institutions are required to reopen on Monday, August 24, 2026.
