Punjab has proposed a Rs4.23 billion housing project for government officers, according to reports on Thursday. The plan includes apartments and several high-end facilities.
The proposed complex would offer residential units for provincial government officers. It would also have a VIP gym, library, executive lounge and café.

What are the details of the proposed project?

The apartment building is expected to cost more than Rs2.05 billion. A separate convention hall has also been proposed. It is estimated to cost Rs547.2 million.
The total project cost is expected to reach Rs4.23 billion. This amount would cover the apartment complex and other development work.
The available details do not yet confirm the number of apartments. The location and construction schedule are also not clear. Details about which officers would be eligible have also not been announced.
The plan is still a proposal and would need the required approvals before work can begin.

Other government housing projects

Punjab has also worked on housing projects for government officials in the past.
The provincial development programme has included apartments for BS-18 and BS-19 officers at Qurban Lines in Lahore. Housing projects for senior police officers have also been planned.
Separately, a Rs3.14 billion project for 70 official residences for Lahore High Court officers at Phullarwan was put up for pre-qualification in September 2026.
The project includes homes for officers in different pay scales. These include BPS-15 to BPS-17, BPS-18 to BPS-19 and BPS-20 and above.
Punjab is also developing housing for senior officials near DHA Phase IX in Lahore. The Government Officers’ Residences project covers 54 kanals and is planned to house Grade-20 officers.
The latest Rs4.23 billion proposal is part of these wider efforts to provide housing for government officials.
However, its planned facilities, such as a VIP gym, executive lounge, library, café and convention hall have drawn attention to the scale of the project.
