The Punjab government has extended summer vacations for non formal educational institutions on Thursday. The decision has been taken due to the ongoing heat wave and unusual weather conditions across the province.
Punjab extends summer vacations
According to an official notification issued by the Directorate General of Literacy and Non Formal Basic Education, all non formal educational institutions will remain closed until June 30, 2026.
According to the details, the decision applies to Non Formal Basic Education schools, Non Formal Education schools, and institutions working under the GPE TALEEM Program across Punjab.
Officials further said that the decision was taken because of the continuing weather situation in the province.
It is also in accordance with the rules and conditions of the related education projects, the reports further add.
In addition to this, the authorities have instructed all concerned departments and institutions to strictly follow the revised schedule without any exceptions.
Officials also said that the purpose of extension is to protect the health and well being of students, teachers, and other staff members as the severe heat wave continues to affect many parts of Punjab.
IHC announces summer vacation 2026
Separately, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has announced the annual summer vacation from July 1, 2026, to August 31, 2026, on Thursday. A formal notification has also been issued in this regard.
The notification was issued by Registrar Muhammad Yar Walana after the approval of the Chief Justice.
According to the notification, the Islamabad High Court will have vacations from July 1 to August 31, 2026.
Earlier today, the Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) also announced its summer vacation schedule.
According to it, all academic activities are set to remain suspended from July 6 to August 30, 2026.
The university administration further advised the students to check the official university website regularly for updates regarding the academic calendar, examinations, hostel operations, and other important announcements.
