There are several speculations circulating about whether summer vacations for schools in Punjab will be extended until August 31 because of the ongoing monsoon rains.
As the scheduled end of the summer break is getting closer, government and private schools across the province are preparing to welcome students back.
However, persistent monsoon rainfall has sparked rumours that the holidays could be extended. Many students and parents are also asking whether the schools will reopen on September 1 instead.
Punjab school summer vacations being extended?
Under the current schedule, summer vacations in Punjab will end on August 23, 2026, with schools expected to reopen on August 24.
According to sources, there is no confirmation if the summer holidays will extend beyond August 23.
Schools are expected to reopen as scheduled unless the Punjab government announces a change.
Before this, the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) had recommended that schools in flood affected areas should not reopen immediately.
According to the sources, the proposal has been sent to the Punjab School Education Department for final approval. A decision will be made after reviewing the situation.
