Mohsin Naqvi, Iranian President discusses stronger ties

Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran, with the two sides discussing bilateral relations and ways to expand cooperation.
The meeting focused on maintaining regular contact between Pakistan and Iran and strengthening cooperation in areas including trade, the economy, tourism, politics, culture and science.
President Pezeshkian said Pakistan and Iran could further strengthen cooperation across different sectors.
He described continued engagement between the two countries as important for promoting their mutual interests in the region.
Masoud Pezeshkian also said Pakistan and Iran could make better use of their local and regional capabilities to meet a range of needs.
During the meeting, the Iranian president also referred to closer ties among Muslim countries.
He said pressure from the United States had contributed to greater interaction and closer relations among Muslim states, and stressed the need to further develop cooperation and communication.
Mohsin Naqvi said Pakistan was committed to expanding cooperation with Iran in trade, economic affairs, tourism and politics.
He said existing relations between the two countries could be strengthened through greater practical cooperation.
The interior minister also expressed Pakistan’s intention to expand cooperation with Iran in the fields of culture and science.
Both sides stressed the importance of continued communication and people-to-people contacts in strengthening bilateral ties.
Pakistan and Iran already cooperate in a number of areas, while officials from both countries have continued discussions on expanding bilateral relations and cooperation.
