Women in Punjab to get Rs15,000 monthly under She Threads project

The Punjab government has started a new project called “She Threads” to support rural women in the textile sector.

CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz shared regarding the new She Threads program on the social media platform Facebook on Wednesday.

Punjab’s Rs310 million “She Threads” project

The project has been launched under the vision of the Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz. It is expected to help women become financially independent and skilled.

A total budget of Rs310 million has been allocated for the project, according to the details.

Under this program, women from rural areas aged 18 to 45 who have at least a middle level education are being trained in modern textile skills. The training includes courses related to the textile and apparel industry.

Monthly stipend

Women who join the program will also receive a monthly stipend of Rs15,000. They will also be given a transport allowance.

Officials said the main goal is to empower women and give them better job opportunities in the textile industry.

The government believes skilled women can play an important role in the economy. CM Punjab also said that making women financially independent is a key priority.

Locations of the She Threads training programs

The training programs are running in Lahore, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, and Faisalabad.

So far, 2,500 women have completed training in the last two years. Out of them, 773 women have already got jobs in different textile companies.

At present, 1,150 women are receiving training. Another 1,350 women will be trained next year.

The program includes training in industrial stitching machine operation, fabric quality inspection, cutting skills, apparel planning and merchandising, supervisory roles, and pattern making.

Punjab govt announces huge relief for workers

The Punjab government has stated that any increase in salaries in the budget will be made in line with the federal government’s decision, according to reports.

The announcement has come as good news for government employees ahead of Budget 2026-27.
