At least 21 employees of Punjab University were injured after a university bus plunged into a deep ravine near Balakot while returning from Naran early Sunday morning.
According to officials, the accident occurred near Damgala when the driver reportedly lost control of the bus, causing it to fall into a steep gorge during the return journey from the tourist destination.
Rescue 1122 teams reached the scene, provided first aid to the injured, and shifted them to nearby medical facilities. The victims were initially treated before being transferred to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Balakot and King Abdullah Teaching Hospital in Mansehra for further medical care.
Authorities confirmed that all 21 injured passengers were Punjab University employees. The exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined, and an investigation is underway.
Tourist’s vehicle falls into ravine in Kaghan Valley
At least two tourists were killed and three others injured after a vehicle carrying visitors to the Naran-Kaghan Valley plunged into a deep ravine in the mountainous Kaghan region, rescue officials confirmed.
According to rescue authorities, the group was travelling from Khanpur to the popular tourist destination when the vehicle met with the accident in the Kaghan hills.
The deceased were identified as 22-year-old Hamza Qadir, a resident of Khanpur, and 20-year-old Irfan Mughal, a resident of Nawabshah. Rescue officials said the two victims were cousins.
Among the injured was Osama, who sustained critical injuries, while the other two injured tourists were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Rescue teams rushed to the scene, recovered the victims from the ravine, and launched relief operations. Authorities have not yet determined the exact cause of the accident.
After completing legal formalities, the bodies of the deceased were handed over to their families and transported to their hometowns in Khanpur and Nawabshah for burial.
