Technology giant Google has introduced a new security feature that allows users to sign in to their Google accounts using selfie video verification.
According to the company, users will initially need to record a short selfie video while looking at the camera and following a few simple on-screen instructions. The process captures different angles of the user’s face to create a secure identity record.
If a user later forgets their password, they can record another selfie video to regain access to their Google account.
Google will compare the new video with the previously stored verification video, and if the user’s identity is successfully confirmed, access to the account will be restored. Users will also have the option to delete their saved selfie video from their account at any time.
The company said the selfie video will only be used to assist with account sign-in unless the user explicitly grants permission for it to be used for any additional purpose.
Google added that the stored selfie video will be protected using encrypted storage, while the feature includes multiple advanced security layers to prevent fraud through fake images or manipulated videos.
Google certification course
Previously, Google announced that it would provide free certification courses to more than 100,000 students in Pakistan.
According to the details, students will not have to pay the usual course fee. It is normally from $400 to $1,000.
The program offered courses lasting three to six months in fields like cybersecurity, AI, and business intelligence.
Training session on Google Gemini
The announcement was made during an event held at the CM House to promote technology and digital skills among young people.
The event also included a training session on Google’s artificial intelligence model, Gemini, for members of the Sindh cabinet and senior government officials.
Speaking at the event, Murad Ali Shah said technology is changing the way people live and work.
He said that the Sindh government wants to improve digital skills in both government offices and among the public.
