The price of World Cup quarterfinal tickets has plummeted on the resale market since the United States and Portugal were eliminated from the tournament, making the prices of much anticipated matches lower.
The least expensive ticket around the Los Angeles area dropped from about $2,950 to nearly $1,200, a loss of almost 60%, on Tuesday afternoon, reported TickPick.
The price reduction came after the exits of the United States and Portugal on Monday.
The US lost to Belgium 4-1 in Seattle and their World Cup campaign ended, as hopes of a victory were dashed.
Cristiano Ronaldo also saw his World Cup career come to an end as Portugal lost 1-0 to Spain.
Without Ronaldo, one of the biggest attractions in football was taken away from the tournament and, hence ticket demand dropped in the Los Angeles quarterfinal.
People were expecting a potential US and Portugal match which was going to lead to higher resale prices than expected.

Among the remaining quarterfinals, Thursday’s clash between France and Morocco in Foxborough, Massachusetts, is currently the least expensive, with resale tickets starting at $989, according to TickPick.
Although the price of the quarterfinals has declined, the demand for the championship match is very high.
The least expensive ticket for the World Cup final, which is being held on July 19 in New Jersey, was $9,346 on Tuesday afternoon, but prices will likely change with the eventual game showdown.
According to SeatPick, the average entry prices for the quarterfinals have dropped 31.5% in the last day and 50.4% in the last three days.
Despite the recent drop in costs, this year’s FIFA World Cup is still the most expensive in World Cup history, with the initial ticket prices costing nearly seven times as much as those of the previous World Cups.
