Heavy monsoon rain continued to lash Islamabad, Lahore and several other parts of Pakistan on Saturday, prompting authorities to remain on high alert as water accumulated in low-lying areas and weather agencies warned of more downpours.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) released its latest rainfall observations recorded up to 11:30 AM (PST) on July 25, 2026, showing continued rainfall in Islamabad and Rawalpindi since the current spell began at 9:38 AM.
According to the PMD, Saidpur Village received the highest rainfall in the twin cities with 10 millimetres, followed by PMD H-8/2 (7 mm), Shamsabad (RAMC) (5 mm), Katcheri near Chaklala (5 mm), Gawalmandi (4 mm), Bokra (CTTI I-12) (3 mm), Pirwadhai (3 mm), Golra near E-11 (2 mm) and New Katarian (2 mm).
The Met Office said it is closely monitoring weather conditions and will continue issuing timely updates as the ongoing monsoon spell progresses.
Rain in Lahore
In Lahore, the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) remained on high alert after heavy rain inundated roads and low-lying areas across the provincial capital.
The highest rainfall was recorded at Saggian (60 mm), followed by Upper Mall (52.2 mm), Lakshmi Chowk (44.6 mm), Chowk Nakhuda (40.2 mm), Samanabad (39 mm), Gulshan-e-Ravi (31.8 mm), Shadipura (27.6 mm), Tajpura (26.4 mm), Mughalpura and Manawan (24.6 mm each), Pani Wala Talab (24.2 mm), Jail Road (23.3 mm), Gulberg Head Office and Nishtar Town (17 mm each), Johar Town (15.2 mm), Allama Iqbal Town (13.4 mm), Kahna (10.8 mm), Defence Road (7.6 mm) and Allama Iqbal International Airport (5 mm).
Rain in other Punjab cities
Heavy and intermittent rain was also reported from several cities across Punjab.
Torrential rain drenched Sargodha and its surrounding areas, while intermittent showers continued in Faisalabad.
In Pindi Bhattian, heavy rainfall flooded roads and low-lying areas, while several electricity feeders tripped and water entered homes in some localities.
Rain also lashed Kharian, Sarai Mughal, Muridke, Shahkot, Manawala, Phoolnagar, Narowal, Phalia and Sahiwal, with several areas reporting urban flooding. Light rain was also recorded in Gujranwala.
Karachi receives rain
Various parts of Karachi also received thundershowers during the past 24 hours.
Rainfall was reported in North Karachi, Rasheedabad, Power House Chowrangi, UP Morr, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulshan-e-Maimar, New Karachi and Surjani Town, bringing temporary relief from the heat.
Rain in Sindh
Heavy rainfall in different parts of Sindh raised concerns over rising water levels in the River Indus, with authorities warning that the flow could exceed 200,000 cusecs. Flooding was also reported in low-lying areas and agricultural fields.
PDMA issues rain alert
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued a fresh alert for more monsoon showers over the next three days, warning of possible landslides, cloudbursts and flash floods in Mansehra and surrounding areas.
As a precautionary measure, the district administration has cancelled four festivals scheduled to be held in Kaghan Valley until July 29.
More rain forecast
The Met Office has forecast thundershowers in Sindh, southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Punjab and northeastern Balochistan during the next 24 hours.
It also warned that isolated heavy rainfall is expected in parts of Sindh and southern Punjab during the forecast period.
