Rawalpindi police cracks down on cars with ‘Applied For’, fake number plates

Rawalpindi Applied For

The City Traffic Police (CTP) in Rawalpindi have initiated a crackdown against cars and motorcycles displaying “applied for”, non-standard, or fake number plates across the district.

A CTP spokesperson said that special checking points have been set up at all major entry and exit routes.

Adding to this, enforcement teams are conducting operations throughout the city to identify violators.

Vehicles siezed

During the current month, traffic police have issued 1,755 challans to vehicles and motorcycles found using “applied for” or numberless plates.

The spokesperson added that Chief Traffic Officer Farhan Aslam has directed officers to issue challans. And impound vehicles displaying “applied for” plates.

These vehicles will be released only after the owners complete proper registration.

Legal action against fake plates

The CTO has also ordered strict legal action against individuals using counterfeit or fabricated number plates.

He stressed that a number plate serves as the legal identity of a vehicle, and concealing or altering it is a violation of the law.

Police advice to motorists

Traffic authorities have urged all vehicle owners to ensure timely registration and to use number plates that meet the prescribed specifications.

The CTP emphasised that maintaining smooth traffic flow and ensuring the safety of road users remain top priorities for Rawalpindi’s traffic management.
