With Independence Day approaching, preparations for the celebrations are in full swing across Rawalpindi, where major markets, commercial centres and key roads have been decorated with national flags, green-and-white buntings and colourful displays.
Shopping activity has increased in Raja Bazaar, Saddar, Committee Chowk, Murree Road, Tench Bhatta, Pirwadhai and Commercial Market, where citizens are visiting shops and special stalls to buy Independence Day items.
Vendors have displayed a wide range of products, including national flags, badges, stickers, caps, headbands, wristbands, green-and-white scarves and decorations for cars and motorcycles. Children, young people and families are visiting markets in large numbers as the celebrations draw closer.
As evening falls, markets across the city light up, while national flags and patriotic songs create a festive atmosphere.
Shopkeepers said demand for Independence Day merchandise is increasing steadily as August 14 approaches. They added that citizens are showing strong enthusiasm for buying national flags and decorative items.
Residents visiting Raja Bazaar said Independence Day is a time of joy, gratitude and renewed commitment. Many said they buy flags and other Independence Day items with their children every year to promote patriotism and national awareness among the younger generation.
Citizens also said that August 14 is not only a day of celebration but an opportunity to remember the sacrifices that led to the creation of Pakistan. They added that every citizen should renew their commitment to contributing to the country’s progress, stability and prosperity.
