Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note 17 Pro and Redmi Note 17 Pro Max globally, with the new smartphones featuring larger batteries, upgraded processors and improved durability.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro starts at $399, while the Pro Max has a starting price of $499. Specifications and availability will vary between markets.
Both models feature a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 3,500 nits.
The screens are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, while both phones feature Xiaomi’s REDMI Titan Structure.
The smartphones also carry IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings in supported markets. Xiaomi says laboratory testing showed the devices could withstand immersion in water to a depth of 2 metres for up to 72 hours and drops from heights of up to 3 metres.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, while the Pro Max uses the more powerful Snapdragon 6 Gen 5.
The Pro is available with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, while the Pro Max also offers up to 12GB of RAM and faster storage on higher-capacity versions.
Both smartphones run Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 and are promised six years of security updates.
Xiaomi has moved away from the 200MP main cameras found on some previous Redmi Note Pro models.
Both new phones instead feature a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilisation and an 8MP ultra-wide camera.
The Pro Max has a larger main-camera sensor with an f/1.5 aperture, while the standard Pro uses an f/1.8 aperture.
The Pro has a 16MP front camera, while the Pro Max features a 32MP selfie camera with support for 4K video recording.
Battery capacity is one of the biggest changes in the new series.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro comes with an 8,340mAh silicon-carbon battery and supports 67W charging.
The Pro Max goes further, offering a 10,000mAh battery in many global markets. Xiaomi says it is the largest battery it has used in a smartphone.
Some markets, including parts of Europe and Australia, will receive a smaller 9,210mAh battery.
The Pro Max supports 100W HyperCharge, with Xiaomi claiming that 20 minutes of charging can provide enough power for a full day of use.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro and Pro Max will be available in different configurations depending on the market, with global prices starting at $399 and $499 respectively.
