Revised timings for shops, malls closure announced in Islamabad

Revised timings have been announced for business in the federal capital of Pakistan, Islamabad, on Thursday, according to an official notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Irfan Nawaz Memon.

He took to the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, to inform about the revised timings.

“In light of ongoing austerity measures, the Islamabad Administration has issued revised operating hours for various sectors across the city,” he wrote.

The following are the revised timings for business in Islamabad

  • Shops, Markets & Shopping Malls shall close at 08:00 PM (throughout the week)
  • Restaurants, Hotels, Grocery & Food Outlet shall close at 10:00 PM (Takeaway & delivery allowed)
  • Marriage Halls & Commercial Event Venues shall close at 10:00 PM.
  • Sports Facilities & Gyms shall close at 08:00 PM.

However, hospitals, petrol pumps, CNG stations, and dairy shops have been exempted from the early closure and will continue operations as usual

The administration further asked for full cooperation from citizens and the business community to make sure a smooth implementation.

Revised shops closure timings

According to the previous notification, all shops, markets, and shopping malls were closed at 8:00 PM, while restaurants, food outlets, and marriage halls will close by 10:00 PM, according to the notification.

These businesses had been asked to shut after 10 PM, but this has been revised to 10 PM.

Essential services, including pharmacies, petrol pumps, and food essentials, will remain operational, according to the details.

In a meeting on petroleum products chaired by PM Shehbaz, it was decided that bazaars, markets, and shopping malls across the country will close at 8 PM.

Daily necessities shops, departmental stores, and malls will also close at 8 PM. Bakeries, restaurants, tandoors, and food and beverage shops closed at 10 PM.

In addition, marriage halls and marquees were also to close after 10 PM. Wedding ceremonies in private properties and homes were also banned after 10 PM.
