Russia praises Pakistan’s constructive role in US-Iran talks

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, during which they discussed bilateral relations and cooperation in multilateral forums to promote international peace and security.

The Russian Foreign Minister appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in the negotiations between Iran and the United States. Ishaq Dar stated that Pakistan would continue to play its role in promoting dialogue and diplomacy to resolve all issues peacefully.

The two leaders also discussed the rescheduling of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Russia. Both sides agreed to remain in contact, and Ishaq Dar extended an invitation to the Russian Foreign Minister to visit Pakistan.

On the other hand, a report by the British Magazine The Economist said that during the recent Iran-US tensions, Pakistan played an important diplomatic role and helped maintain the ceasefire, which enhanced the country’s diplomatic importance at the global level.

A report by the British Newspaper Financial Times also stated that Pakistan is playing an active role in reducing the ongoing tensions between the US and Iran and in preventing the talks from collapsing completely.

According to the report, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, has emerged as an important figure in this diplomatic process, working to maintain coordination between the two countries.
