Salman Butt hits back at Stuart Broad over ‘weak team’ remark

Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt has hit back at former England fast bowler Stuart Broad for describing Pakistan as a “weak team.” Butt acknowledged that Pakistan are not currently playing their best cricket but questioned Broad’s assessment of the team, calling the remark unfair.

“Okay, Pakistan are not playing good cricket at the moment, but what kind of opinion is it to say that Pakistan is a weak team?” Butt said. He urged English cricketers to assess their own team’s performances before making such remarks. “Your team is very good, so what happens when you go to Australia? You lose 0-5 every time,” Butt said.

The former captain also recalled England’s bowling attack during Pakistan’s stronger years, saying that Pakistani cricketers never described England as a poor team despite their struggles. “When Pakistan had a good bowling attack, what did England have? A group of fast bowlers who bowled at around 120 kilometres per hour. Yet no one from Pakistan said that England was a very bad team,” Butt added.

He further pointed out that Pakistani cricketers did not make such comments about England during that period. Broad recently described Pakistan as a weak team and said England should win the Test series comfortably. “Pakistan is a weak team, there is no doubt about it. If England do not win the Test series, it will be a huge failure for us,” Broad said.
