The Sindh Education Department has restored a six-day working week for all public and private educational institutions across the province.
According to an official notification, schools and colleges will resume academic activities six days a week, with classes scheduled from Monday to Saturday.
The revised schedule will come into effect from August 1, requiring all government and private schools to follow the six-day teaching week.
Earlier, summer holidays 2026 in Punjab schools may be extended until September 1 due to heavy monsoon rains and flooding in Punjab.
The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has recommended that schools in flood-affected areas should not reopen immediately.
According to the sources, the proposal has been sent to the Punjab School Education Department for final approval. A decision will be made after reviewing the situation.
If the proposal is accepted, students will be able to enjoy summer vacations 2026 for one additional week, as the previous opening date was announced to be August 24, 2026.
Prior to this, the Sindh government taken strict notice of private schools that are increasing fees without approval. It has warned that schools which are breaking the rules could have their registration suspended or cancelled.
Additional Director General of Private Institutions, Sindh, Professor Rafia Mallah, has issued a notice to all private school heads.
The department said that it has received complaints that some schools are charging parents more than the approved tuition fee. It also said that some of the schools are collecting extra or hidden charges.
According to the notice, private schools cannot charge any fee other than the approved tuition fee without permission from the registration authority. Doing so is against the Sindh Private Educational Institutions Rules.
