Former Pakistan cricket team captain Shahid Afridi has warned that aligning with India’s agenda will not lead to success for Afghanistan.
In a statement posted on X, he reiterated Pakistan’s desire for peace while making clear that sovereignty and security are non‑negotiable.
Start batsman commended the Pakistan Army’s response to Operation ‘Ghadab Lil Haq’, saying the armed forces acted effectively after what he described as a violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and the sanctity of the holy month of Ramadan.
He emphasised that Pakistan had pursued negotiation, diplomacy and all possible peaceful avenues to de‑escalate tensions with Afghanistan.
He added that brotherly Islamic countries also made sincere efforts to urge dialogue, but despite these attempts, “infiltration and aggression continued.”
“As a Muslim, it is the heartfelt wish of all believers, including me, that in the blessed month of Razman we remain engaged in worship and not in shedding each other’s blood,” Afridi said. “It is unfortunate that the neighbouring country once again attacked Pakistan, violating the sanctity of this Holy month.”
He praised the Pakistan Army’s strong and effective response, saying the forces ensured the safety of Pakistan’s land and people and upheld the country’s territorial integrity.
Afridi also stressed Pakistan’s historical support for Afghanistan, saying, “It was Pakistan that always stood by its Afghan brothers in difficult times.”
