PHF brings back ‘Flying Horse’ Samiullah Khan in key selection role

The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has appointed Samiullah Khan, popularly known as the ‘Flying Horse, as the Chief Selector of the national hockey team.

The appointment was made on the recommendation of the Professional Development Committee formed by PHF’s ad hoc president, Mohiuddin Wali. The committee includes legendary Olympians Hassan Sardar and Islahuddin Siddiqui.

The PHF has also unveiled a comprehensive roadmap for the development of the national sport.

The newly formed committee will have full authority over the selection process and training system of the national team.

According to the PHF, additional members of the committee will be appointed after consultation with the co-chairmen. To enhance transparency and improve governance within the organisation, the corporate governance and marketing departments have been separated from the technical hockey operations.

Aamir Ibrahim, who hails from Islamabad, has been appointed to the Corporate Governance Committee. Other members of the committee include Farrukh Atiq, Shakeel Shah, Ghulam Ali Mallah, and Akmal Aziz. The Hockey Federation believes that this new administrative structure will help restore the lost prestige of the national sport.
