In the ongoing first Test between the Pakistan national cricket team and the Bangladesh team in Mirpur, Bangladesh strengthened their position after reaching 261/3 at the end of 70 overs on the opening day.
After Pakistan won the toss and chose to bowl first, the hosts suffered an early setback, but Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto led the recovery with a magnificent century. Shanto scored a composed 101 runs, smashing 12 boundaries and two sixes during his impressive knock.
Mominul Haque also played a crucial innings, remaining unbeaten on 88, while veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim provided solid support with 22 not out as the pair guided Bangladesh into a strong position. For Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Hasan Ali, and Mohammad Abbas each picked up one wicket.
Bangladesh did not have a good start, losing their first two wickets for just 31 runs. However, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mominul Haque steadied the innings and put their team in a strong position with a responsible partnership.
Among the Pakistani bowlers, Noman Ali was the most expensive, while Mohammad Abbas bowled very economically. For Pakistan, Azan Owais and Abdullah Fazal made their debut appearances in the team.
