Shifa Hospital security clearance completed: Staff phones taken, signals blocked

Security clearance has been completed at the Shifa International Hospital on Thursday, according to the latest reports. Additionally, staff phones have been taken, and signals have been blocked.

Traffic movement around Shifa International Hospital has also been restricted as authorities clear roads in the area, as there are reports that PTI founder Imran Khan could be shifted from Adiala Jail to the hospital today.

Roads around H-8 have also been diverted.  Authorities have also advised people to plan their journeys carefully as VIP movement may take place in the area.

Imran Khan Shifa International Hospital

Security has been tightened around Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad as there are reports that PTI founder Imran Khan may be moved there for treatment.

Imran Khan’s personal physician Dr Faisal Sultan and his sisters Dr Uzma and Aleema Khan have arrived at Adiala Jail, according to reports. His cousin Qasim Zaman has also reportedly reached the jail.

Islamabad Inspector General of Police also visited Shifa International Hospital with other police officers. He reviewed the security arrangements around the hospital.

A large number of police officers have been deployed around the hospital. Federal police have also been alerted about the possible transfer.

Tariq Fazal Chaudhry

Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that Imran Khan can be moved to Shifa Hospital if he cannot get the required treatment at a government hospital under current laws.

He also said the government could allow Imran Khan to go abroad for treatment if needed. The minister said the government has filed a review petition in the Supreme Court to seek clarity on its decision.

He stressed that the review petition does not mean the government is refusing to follow the court’s order. He said the government will act according to the court’s directions.

Tariq Fazal also gave the example of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. He said Nawaz Sharif was moved to government hospitals during his time in prison. He was later allowed to go abroad for treatment.
