Terrorist behind Sydney attack is an Afghan national

Sydney attack

The terrorist behind the Sydney attack is Naveed Akram, an Afghan national.

He was a student at Sydney’s Al-Murad Islamic Institute.

12 people have died, including one gunman, following the shooting incident at Bondi Beach.

A child is believed to be among 29 people who are in serious condition.

The second shooter is in critical condition.

Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were found in a car linked to one of the gunmen.

More than 1,000 people were attending an event on the beach celebrating Hanukkah.

Hanukkah is the Jewish festival of light.

Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the Bondi Beach shooting was an “act of evil antisemitism, terrorism that has struck the heart of our nation.”

Mass shootings in Australia are very rare, and the attack at Bondi is the deadliest incident in the country since the Port Arthur massacre in 1996.
