Tim David will be put on the bench for the first game of the next edition of the Indian Premier League after being suspended.
Indian news outlets have reported that Tim David had a violent outburst against the umpire Nitin Menon and he threw an ice pack at him in the final of IPL 2026 between RCB and Gujarat Titans.
This was Tim David’s third Level 1 offence of the season. This resulted in him being penalised with a fine of half of his match fee and two demerit points.
As such, his demerits over the last 36 months now total to five and he has been suspended for one game.
The incident took place in the 10th over of Gujarat’s innings when Jordan Cox was ruled not out.
Throwing a ball or any other item associated with or concerned with cricket in an unsafe or improper manner towards a player, team official, umpire, third party is an offence as per Article 2.9 of the IPL Code of Conduct.
Tim David had two other violations in the season already in his record.
In other news no one could have foreseen Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) making history and winning their second successive Indian Premier League (IPL) title.
In the final at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi stadium, the game was finished by a boundary scored by Virat Kohli.
The star hitter performed exceptionally well with remarkable composure and led the team with great confidence and determination and scored 75 runs.
Kohli also made his fastest IPL half-century in the final where he added yet another record in his IPL career.
Actress Anushka Sharma was there to support the team and was also a part of the celebrations after the success.
