Former vice president Kamala Harris has accused Trump of starting a war “the American people do not want” and putting US troops in harm’s way at the urging of the Israeli leader.
Kamala Harris, who lost the 2024 presidential election to Trump, made the remarks at a Democratic Party fundraiser in Detroit.
Netanyahu has dismissed the suggestion he dragged the US into the war, last month telling a news conference: “Does anyone really think that someone can tell President Trump what to do?”
Earlier, Speaker of the Parliament of Iran, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, said today that diplomatic contacts between the United States (US) and Iran have shown some progress on certain points, but major differences still remain.
Iran–US talks progress
According to foreign media reports, the Speaker of Iran’s Parliament said that under the leadership of Donald Trump, the United States failed to achieve its goals through pressure, threats, and strict deadlines.
He further said that this forced the US to send messages through indirect channels.
He added that Iran agreed to a temporary ceasefire so that the US could present its demands.
In addition, he also claimed that the US accepted the ceasefire because Iran had the upper hand on the battlefield.
Further, he said that the US President failed to achieve his main goals. These included changing the government in Iran and ending its missile and military capabilities.
He said that although talks and communication are continuing, real differences still exist. He added that more discussions are needed before reaching a final agreement.
‘Good conversations going on with Iran’: President Donald Trump
US President Donald Trump has said today that very good conversations are going on with Iran.
“We have very good conversations going on, it is working out very well,” he tells reporters in the Oval Office, reiterating his claim that Tehran has no navy, air force, or leadership.
“We are talking to them, they wanted to close up the Strait [of Hormuz] again, as they have been doing for years. They can’t blackmail us.”
Earlier, Trump praised Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir by calling him a ‘great, great’ leader of Pakistan.
While addressing the nation about the ceasefire with Iran, Trump said, “I would like to thank the country of Pakistan, and its great Prime Minister, and the great great Field Marshal.”
