The United States of America (US) has issued a new visa policy for people who commit or facilitate cybercrime and cyber-enabled crimes, including cyberscams and sextortion.
According to Trump’s administration, the US will no longer give visas to these people and their family under Section 212(a)(3)(C) of the Immigration and Nationality Act.
The Trump administration added that it will impose sanctions, pursue criminal prosecutions, seize assets, seek extraditions, and work with international law enforcement agencies to dismantle criminal scam networks.
Secretary Marco Rubio announced the news via social media.
In a post, he said, “President Trump has made clear that his administration will take action to counter cybercrime, fraud, and predatory schemes against Americans. Today I am announcing a new policy that will restrict visas to foreign nationals responsible for or complicit in cybercrime and cyber-enabled crimes that have devastated American families and children. By going after these individuals, our message is clear: The United States will go after those who prey on our citizens.”

Although the policy does not name any specific country other than referring to Chinese criminal organisations allegedly involved in investment scams, it applies globally and could affect nationals of any country found to be participating in cyber-enabled criminal activities.
