The government has announced a major scholarship programme for talented Pakistani students who want to study at top universities in the United States (US).
Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui recently visited the US.
US scholarships for Pakistani students
During his visit, he met senior officials from leading universities including MIT, Harvard, Princeton, Columbia and Georgetown.
The main purpose of these meetings was to create better study opportunities for talented Pakistani students at top US universities.
For this programme, the government has decided to allocate Rs1.5 billion under the “Pakistan Fund for Education”.
What is the Pakistan Fund for Education?
Under the programme, selected students will be able to receive scholarships of up to $29,000 per year.
The scholarships will focus on important fields that are expected to play a major role in the future.
These include artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, data science, biotechnology, agriculture and public policy.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, has assured full diplomatic and administrative support for the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said Pakistan is now offering partnerships based on talent, ability and ambition rather than sympathy.
He added that talented and capable Pakistani youth are the country’s real future.

Germany 2027: fully funded DAAD PhD scholarship
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) has opened applications for its fully funded PhD scholarships for 2027.
Pakistani students are being given the opportunity to pursue doctoral studies at recognised universities and research institutions in Germany.
The scholarship is funded with the support of the German Federal Foreign Office and covers the full cost of study.
To be eligible for the scholarships, applicants must hold a master’s degree or an equivalent qualification. In some exceptional cases, candidates with a bachelor’s degree may also be considered.
Candidates must also have approval for their proposed research. They should meet the required language proficiency.
