Lahore imposes restrictions on vehicles without valid documents

The Lahore Traffic Police have introduced new strict regulations prohibiting commercial vehicles from entering the city unless they meet specific legal and safety requirements.

According to Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore, Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi, only those commercial vehicles whose drivers possess valid and effective driving licences will be allowed to enter the city from now on.

Authorities stated that commercial drivers must carry all required documents while operating their vehicles to avoid penalties during inspections.

Further, the CTO stated that strict action will be taken against commercial vehicles that fail to comply with safety regulations. Vehicles operating without functioning front and rear lights, those misusing high-beam headlights, or those lacking valid fitness certificates will face legal consequences. Traffic authorities have made it clear that no leniency will be shown in cases where safety standards are ignored.

Further, special attention has also been given to loader tractor trolleys transporting sand, soil, construction materials, or other goods. Such vehicles will not be permitted to travel on roads unless their loads are properly covered with tarpaulins.

Officials believe uncovered loads create hazards for other road users by causing dust pollution, obstructing visibility, and increasing the risk of accidents. Violators will face legal action under applicable traffic laws.

Earlier. Loader rickshaws and Qingqi rickshaws were banned on major roads in Lahore.

According to Lahore Traffic Police, loader rickshaws had been temporarily allowed on roads during Eid-ul-Azha. The decision was made to improve traffic flow and enhance public safety.

All types of loaders and Qingqi rickshaws will be prohibited from entering Canal Road and other designated model roads from today (Saturday).

Traffic police have been ordered to launch a special crackdown against auto-rickshaw drivers carrying extra passengers alongside the driver.
