Pakistan’s bowlers will have to work hard on Monday as the West Indies resume their first innings at 235/5 on the second day of the final Test in Port of Spain. After winning the toss, the West Indies captain elected to bat first.
Pakistan made four changes to their playing XI, bringing in Abdullah Shafique, Owais Zafar, Sajid Khan, and Obaid Shah. Both Owais Zafar and Obaid Shah made their Test debuts. Obaid Shah received his Test cap from Mohammad Abbas, while Owais Zafar was presented with his debut cap by Babar Azam.
On the opening day, the start of play was delayed by 15 minutes due to rain. Only 9.5 overs were possible in the first session, during which Tejnarine Chanderpaul was dismissed for 15. At lunch, the West Indies were 49/1.
Pakistan’s bowlers struck three more times in the second session. Brandon King scored 46 before being dismissed, while Keacy Carty Hodge made 10 and Amir Jangoo contributed 26.
In the final session, Shai Hope was dismissed for 29, becoming Muhammad Ali’s second wicket of the innings. Before his dismissal, Hope and Justin Greaves added a valuable 53-run partnership for the fifth wicket. By stumps, the West Indies had reached 239/5.
Pakistan’s bowlers claimed three more wickets in the second session. Brandon King was dismissed for 46, Kevlon Hodge scored 10, while Amir Jangoo made 26 before being sent back to the pavilion.
In the third session, Shai Hope contributed 29 runs before becoming Muhammad Ali’s second wicket of the innings. Hope and Justin Greaves shared a valuable 53-run partnership for the fifth wicket.
Play ended early due to bad light, with the West Indies reaching 239/5 in 74 overs at stumps on the opening day. Justin Greaves remained unbeaten on 64, while captain Roston Chase was not out on 36. For Pakistan, Muhammad Ali was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets, while Sajid Khan, Obaid Shah, and Ali Usman claimed one wicket each.
