A woman in Quetta has given birth to five babies, three daughters and two sons, at the same time. Doctors have described it as a rare medical event. The delivery took place at a private hospital in Quetta, capital of Balochistan.
According to the hospital’s medical team, all five newborns are in stable condition following the delivery. However, the babies will remain under special medical observation for 10 days to ensure they continue to recover and develop normally. Doctors are closely monitoring their breathing, feeding, and overall health, as premature or multiple births can require additional neonatal care before discharge.
The father of the newborns shared that the couple already had three children before this delivery. The total number of children in the family has now increased to eight. The parents expressed immense happiness over the births and described the occasion as a blessing.
According to doctors, mothers carrying multiple babies are generally regarded as high risk patients and often require specialised regular monitoring and experienced teams to ensure the safest possible outcome for both the mother and the babies.
A similar case took place in Karachi last year. A woman from the Baldia Town area gave birth to five babies, including three sons and two daughters. According to doctors in that case, the infants were born premature, 29 days before their expected due date.
Another similar case was reported in Bannu during the previous year. A woman gave birth to five babies, three sons and two daughters. Additionally, a woman in Peshawar delivered three babies in a single birth, including two sons and one daughter, demonstrating that rare multiple births continue to be successfully managed by hospitals across Pakistan.
On the other hand, previously, the federal government decided to introduce an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered diagnostic system under the Prime Minister’s Health Card Programme.
