President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday strongly condemned Israeli forces for intercepting a Gaza-bound humanitarian flotilla in international waters near Greece, calling it a deeply troubling move amid the ongoing crisis in Gaza.
He expressed serious concern for the safety of the detained activists and urged authorities to respect their rights and ensure their well-being, according to an official statement from the Presidency.
Zardari stressed that no one should block humanitarian aid and called for the immediate delivery of assistance to civilians affected in Gaza. He said people in need must receive help without delays or obstacles.
The president also urged the international community to step in and help prevent further escalation. He called on global powers to uphold humanitarian principles and ensure freedom of navigation in international waters.
He added that protecting humanitarian efforts is essential, especially during times of crisis, and warned that such actions could worsen an already fragile situation.
