A fresh controversy has rocked the Indian Premier League (IPL) after a key moment in the clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans sparked widespread debate.
The flashpoint came with the dismissal of Rajat Patidar, a decision that quickly drew attention from fans and experts alike. The incident not only stunned spectators but also left the team management visibly surprised, adding further intensity to an already high-stakes encounter.
During a critical phase of the match, Patidar attempted a pull shot on a short ball, but the ball took a top edge and went toward deep square leg. Jason Holder completed the catch, while Kagiso Rabada also ran in from fine leg.
Due to uncertainty about the catch, the on-field umpires referred the decision to the third umpire. Replays did not clearly show whether the ball had touched the ground.
Despite the lack of conclusive evidence, Patidar was given out, sparking controversy. Indian premier batsman Virat Kohli reacted strongly to the decision and was seen arguing with the fourth umpire near the boundary line.
Later, head coach Andy Flower joined the discussion, and both expressed their dissatisfaction with the decision. It is worth noting that this wicket fell at a time when the team was already under pressure.
