A Rawalpindi court has extended the physical remand of Hina Javed’s husband, Faisal Asghar, and an employee, Zeeshan, for another three days in connection with her murder case. After the completion of their initial three-day physical remand, the accused were produced before Duty Civil Judge Rana Shahnawaz Khan.
The investigation team requested an extension, stating that the items allegedly used in the murder were yet to be recovered from the accused. Accepting the police’s request, the court extended the physical remand of Asghar and Zeeshan for another three days and ordered that they remain in police custody. The court also directed the Medical Superintendent (MS) of Benazir Bhutto Hospital to provide Zeeshan’s medical report to the investigating officer.
It is worth mentioning here that a Rawalpindi woman, Hina Javed, was found dead at her in-laws’ residence after her father-in-law reportedly alerted police to a suspected burglary at the house. Upon reaching the scene, police discovered Hina’s body tied to a shower in the bathroom, with her hands bound behind her back.
The circumstances surrounding her death raised suspicion, prompting police to register a murder case. Her husband, Asghar, and a domestic worker, Zeeshan, were subsequently arrested in connection with the case. A preliminary post-mortem examination revealed a fracture in one of the bones in Hina’s neck, along with injuries to her ribs and hip. Samples collected during the examination, including those required for DNA testing, were sent to a forensic laboratory for analysis.
Police officials said the exact cause of death could not yet be determined and would only be established after the final post-mortem findings and forensic reports are received. As part of the investigation, a special team led by Investigation SSP Saifullah transported Hina’s husband Asghar and domestic worker Zeeshan to Lahore on Tuesday under tight security. Their samples were submitted to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) for DNA testing and polygraph examinations.
Hina’s father-in-law, who has also been made part of the investigation, accompanied the police team to Lahore. He was questioned by investigators before returning to Rawalpindi. According to police sources, the DNA test results are expected to take around three weeks, while the polygraph examination reports are likely to be available within three days.
Investigators are examining forensic, scientific and technical evidence, along with human intelligence, to establish the circumstances surrounding Hina’s death and determine the alleged role of each suspect in the case.
