The Pakistan Navy has started its major maritime exercise, Seaspark 2026, in Karachi. The exercise is to test the Navy’s operational readiness against conventional and emerging threats at sea.
Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf attended the opening briefing as the chief guest. Senior officers from Pakistan’s armed forces were also present.
Navy Chief stresses operational preparedness
Speaking on the occasion, Admiral Naveed Ashraf said the Pakistan Navy could not compromise on its operational preparedness. He said the regional security environment was becoming increasingly complex and unstable.
He also highlighted the growing importance of the information domain in modern warfare. He said the need for stronger coordination between the Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Army and Pakistan Air Force.
The exercise will test how effectively the Navy can respond to different traditional and modern maritime challenges.
Pakistan Navy warships, submarines, aircraft, unmanned systems, Marines and Special Operations Forces are taking part. Units from the Pakistan Army and Pakistan Air Force are also participating to test joint planning and combat capabilities.
Moreover, additional reports on the exercise say Seaspark 2026 is also testing multi operations. These operations bring together maritime, air, land, cyber and space capabilities.
The exercise is also focusing on operations in the information environment.
Naval Chief reviews fleet Units
Admiral Naveed Ashraf visited Pakistan Navy fleet units, before the opening of Seaspark 2026. He reviewed ongoing operational activities and interacted with officers and personnel serving with the fleet. The Naval Chief discussed the importance of adaptability, coordination and constant preparedness.
The participation of the Army and Air Force also gives the exercise a strong joint-service element in the Seaspark.
