The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased electricity prices across Pakistan on Friday through monthly and quarterly adjustments.
What is the electricity prices across Pakistan?
The monthly adjustment has increased electricity prices by Rs2.06 per unit. The quarterly adjustment has added another 52 paisas per unit.
NEPRA has issued a notification for the monthly increase.
How much price has been increased?
According to the notification, the increase is based on the monthly adjustment for July 2026. It will also apply to K-Electric customers.
The monthly increase will be included in electricity bills for September. It will put an additional burden of more than Rs33 billion on consumers.
NEPRA has also sent its decision on the quarterly adjustment for April to June 2026 to the federal government.
The quarterly increase will apply for three months from September to November 2026. It will also apply to K-Electric customers.
The quarterly adjustment will put an additional burden of Rs12.67 billion on consumers.
Previously, NEPRA decided to increase the electricity price by Rs1 per unit.
Pakistan’s electricity distribution companies have asked NEPRA to approve an additional financial burden of more than Rs23 billion on consumers for the next three months.
During the hearing, chaired by the NEPRA chairman, distribution companies sought a total adjustment of Rs49.74 billion under the second-quarter adjustment for the current financial year.
The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) told the regulator that power companies had also requested Rs4.95 billion for operation and maintenance expenses.
‘Electricity tariff may rise by Rs2.52’
Previously, it was reported that electricity consumers in Pakistan could face another increase in their power bills, with the tariff likely to rise by Rs2.52 per unit for one month.
The proposed increase is linked to the monthly Fuel Cost Adjustment (FCA) for July 2026.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) is expected to hear a request from the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) regarding the proposed increase.
