Gas supply to be suspended

Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has announced a temporary suspension of gas supply in several areas of Islamabad.

According to a notice issued by SNGPL, gas supply will remain suspended from 9 pm on Monday, September 7, until 5 am on Tuesday, September 8, due to the disconnection of a main pipeline near Khanna Pul, Service Road East, along Islamabad Expressway.

The affected areas include Ghauri Town to Faizabad East Service Road, Lehtrar Road from Khanna Pul to Burma Town, Sohan, Ghauri Town, Gulberg, Shakrial, Rehman Garden and adjoining areas.

SNGPL has advised consumers in these areas to make alternative arrangements during the suspension.

The company also urged consumers to keep gas appliances switched off during the outage to avoid any accidents or safety hazards.

Earlier, Tandoor owners announced a protest against prolonged hours of gas loadshedding in Lahore.

The protest has been scheduled for September 15 and will take place outside the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) office.

It is pertinent to mention that gas loadshedding has been continuing in Lahore for some time, including during the summer months. Tandoor owners have been facing the issue for nearly a year. However, special gas supplies were provided by the authorities during Ramadan.

Due to gas loadshedding in Lahore, residents are increasingly being forced to use Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), which is significantly more expensive.
