The Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on Tuesday changed the petrol and diesel prices, with the new rates taking effect from Wednesday, September 9.
The price of petrol was increased by Rs5.58, and the price of diesel was increased by Rs4.18. A notification has been issued in this regard as well.
The price of petrol has been set at Rs364.35 per litre, and the price of diesel has been set at Rs385.95 per litre. These prices have been changed for the next 24 hours, till September 10.
What are the petrol, diesel prices in Pakistan?
Previously, OGRA announced new prices for petroleum products. The rates of high-speed diesel and petrol were changed again.
Yesterday, according to the notification, the price of petrol was increased by Rs 12.90 per litre. The price of high-speed diesel was increased by Rs 3.72 per litre.
The new price of petrol had been fixed at Rs 358.77 per litre. Similarly, the new price of diesel had been fixed at Rs 381.77 per litre.
Before that, on Friday, the price of petrol had been set at Rs345.87 per litre, and the price of diesel had been set at Rs378.5 per litre. These prices had been changed for the next three days, till September 7.
The price of petrol was decreased by Rs3.13, and the price of diesel was increased by Rs3.74.
Since July 22, the government has increased the price of petrol by Rs38.04 per litre. Petrol was priced at Rs320.73 per litre on July 22. It is now being sold at Rs358.77 per litre.
The price of high-speed diesel has also gone up during this period. Diesel was priced at Rs367.21 per litre on July 22. It now costs Rs381.77 per litre, showing an increase of Rs14.56 per litre.
In the latest price revision, the government increased the price of high-speed diesel by Rs3.72 per litre.
How much has govt raised petrol, diesel dealers’ margin?
The government has increased the profit margin for petrol and diesel dealers by Rs1.34 per litre.
The new margin will apply across Pakistan. Dealers will now get Rs9.98 per litre instead of Rs8.64.
Sources said the decision was taken after dealers raised concerns about higher business costs. They had been asking the government to increase their margins for some time.
The new margin will apply to petrol and diesel sold at fuel stations across the country.
