The deadline for the NADRA vaccination card requirement for travellers has been extended until September 25, 2026, providing additional time to passengers and Umrah pilgrims travelling abroad.
An official notification confirming the date of the extension is expected to be issued shortly.
Previously, it was announced that the new requirement would take effect after September 14. Passengers could face restrictions on international travel if they did not have vaccination proof integrated with NADRA. Hundreds of passengers and Umrah pilgrims gathered at airport health offices to obtain their NADRA vaccination cards.
Travel agents raise concerns over new rule
The Travel Agents Association of Pakistan (TAAP) had earlier written to the federal government and raised concerns about the Ministry of Health’s decision regarding NADRA vaccination cards.
TAAP said the instructions were unclear and had created confusion among travellers and travel agents. One of its main concerns was whether the vaccination card requirement applied only to Hajj and Umrah pilgrims or to all passengers travelling internationally.
The association also questioned the timing of vaccinations. It said people travelling abroad should receive the required vaccines around six to seven days before departure.
TAAP further raised health concerns over administering four vaccines at the same time. It also claimed that the vaccine recommended by the government was not readily available in the market.
Further, the association urged the government to ensure an adequate supply of vaccines and establish more vaccination centres to make the process easier for travellers.
TAAP had warned that enforcing the requirement from September 14 could create serious difficulties for pilgrims and other international passengers.
It also called for clear standard operating procedures for the NADRA vaccination card system.
However, a formal notification confirming the revised deadline is still expected.
How to obtain a NADRA vaccination certificate online?
Travellers can obtain their vaccination certificate by visiting the NIMS portal at nims.nadra.gov.pk.
Applicants are required to enter their Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) number and date of issue, or provide their passport details. They must then enter the required personal information along with the security code.
A fee of Rs100 is charged for the certificate, which can be paid online using a debit or credit card, JazzCash or Easypaisa.
Once the payment has been successfully confirmed, applicants can download their digital vaccination certificate. The certificate can also be printed and kept with other travel documents.
