Federal Minister for Climate Change Senator Musadik Malik said that rising petrol prices are badly affecting ordinary people.
Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad on Tuesday, he said that the government understands the problems faced by the public.
He said that petrol prices have increased around the world due to the war between the United States (US) and Iran.

The Federal Minister also stated that an increase in petrol prices drives up the cost of everything. He also mentioned that under the Prime Minister’s relief scheme, a relief of Rs 100 per litre has been provided.
He noted that oil prices are rising and the public will certainly receive the relief due to them. While the country belongs to everyone, the primary claim to relief belongs to the owners of small vehicles.
Senator Musadik Malik stated that the Prime Minister prioritised providing relief to the poor. He also said that the levy stands at Rs80 and the carbon levy at Rs5, yet the Prime Minister has provided a relief of Rs100.
He remarked that the relief being provided exceeds the tax amount. “Though we acknowledge it remains insufficient; nevertheless, we have shouldered the maximum burden our economy could sustain,” he added.
The Federal Minister further added that the entire world would find relief once the war ends.
What is the status of the petrol relief scheme?
The Federal Minister further said that the petrol relief scheme has already started in Islamabad and will be launched nationwide in the coming days.
A court has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for 51 people in a case related to a 2019 rally in Faisalabad on Friday.
The accused include several Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leaders, including Talal Chaudhry, Musadik Malik and Javed Latif.
The court also ordered the arrest and production of the other accused in the case.
The case is related to a political rally held in Faisalabad in 2019.
