The government of Botswana has announced a public holiday on September 30 to celebrate its National Day across the country.

As per the official website of the government, there will be two holidays in the country. First on September 30, to celebrate ‘Botswana Day’, and the other on October 1, which is a public holiday.

All of the government offices and other major organisations are to remain closed on September 30.

Botswana will be celebrating its 60th Independence day/ National day, which will also be considered a diamond jubilee.

According to media reports, many ceremonies will be conducted on the National Day of Botswana on September 30.

The events that will be held include office gatherings, speeches, public ceremonies, entertainment, and community events.

The national and community leaders will address the residents of their respective areas.

The government of Botswana is planning to celebrate the 60th anniversary of its independence in a unique way by highlighting the role of the creative sector in the growth of its economy, as described by Daily News Botswana.

Botswana got freedom from British rule in 1966.

The country got its independence at midnight between September 29 and September 30, 1966.

The first official president of Botswana was Seretse Khama.

September 16 holiday

Mexico has also announced a public holiday on September 16, marking its National Day.

It is a yearly commemoration of the start of the Mexican War of Independence from Spain in 1810.

September 16th is the official Independence Day of Mexico, when patriotic celebrations, public ceremonies, cultural events and festivities are observed throughout the country.

Almost all government offices, schools and businesses will be closed, and millions of people will celebrate by observing the day with family and friends.

September 23 holiday

Saudi Arabia has announced a public holiday on September 23, 2026, to mark the country’s 96th National Day.

According to Arab media reports, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has announced the date of the 96th Saudi National Day holiday for employees in the private sector.

In a post on the social media platform X, authorities said that Wednesday, September 23, 2026, corresponding to 12 Rabi’ al-Thani 1448 AH, will be an official holiday for employees in the private sector.
