The government of Pakistan will start the rollout of the Prime Minister (PM) petrol relief package from today, Wednesday, September 16,
The government is set to expand the programme nationwide after it was initially launched in Islamabad.
A meeting on the administrative arrangements and implementation of the scheme was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Foreign Minister (FM) of Pakistan, Ishaq Dar.
Officials said during the meeting that the scheme was already operational in Islamabad, while its nationwide rollout is scheduled for 11:59 pm on 16 September.
Ishaq Dar directed authorities to keep the registration process simple and accessible so that eligible citizens could benefit from the programme.
He also called for greater public awareness and instructed officials to ensure the scheme was implemented smoothly at petrol stations.
Elected representatives were asked to help inform the public about the scheme and assist citizens with registration.
Volunteers from the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme will also be mobilised to support awareness and registration efforts.
The meeting was attended by senior government officials, including the ministers for information and broadcasting, information technology and parliamentary affairs, as well as the Minister of State for Finance and members of the National Assembly representing Islamabad.
The government has said the initiative is intended to provide fuel-related financial relief to eligible citizens, although further details about eligibility and the amount of assistance are expected to be provided through the registration process.
