National wrestler Inam Butt has completed his two-month suspension over a doping case. He is now allowed to return to wrestling activities.
According to sources, Butt was banned for two months and lost his silver medal from the Asian Beach Games because of the doping issue.
The suspension started on July 19 and ended on September 18. With the ban now over, Butt can return to wrestling and represent Pakistan at the Asian Games.
Why was Inam Butt suspended?
Sources said Butt had taken medicine for an eye problem. However, he did not inform international anti-doping authorities about the medicine within the required time.
The International Testing Agency had reportedly allowed the medicine to be used for up to one year.
Butt has now completed his suspension and is cleared to take part in wrestling events again.
Pakistan beat India
Previously, Pakistani wrestler Ayesha Baloch defeated her Indian opponent in the final at the Asian Games in Sri Lanka.
Her Indian rival struggled to stop her attacks as Ayesha kept her lead throughout the match.
After winning the final, Ayesha proudly waved the Pakistan flag on the victory podium.
Her gold medal win is being seen as an important achievement for Pakistani wrestling.
Central Spokesperson of Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) Shazia Marri congratulated Ayesha Baloch on winning the gold medal at the Asian Games.
In her statement, Shazia Marri said Ayesha’s victory over her Indian opponent in the final was a proud moment for Pakistan and brought joy to the nation.
She praised the wrestler’s technique, determination and professional skills. She said Ayesha’s performance highlighted Pakistan’s sporting talent on the international stage.
