A Pakistani man and his two sons were killed in a car accident while travelling from Makkah to Madinah in Saudi Arabia to visit the Prophet’s Roza (ﷺ), local reports said.

The deceased, identified as Chaudhry Wahid Ali and his sons, Umar Wahid and Ali Wahid, were residents of Iqbal Nagar in Arifwala, Punjab. The family was in Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.

According to details, the three were travelling by car from Makkah to Madinah when their vehicle met with an accident on the way. All three reportedly died at the scene.

Further details about the location and cause of the accident were not immediately available.

Arrangements have reportedly begun to bring the bodies of the deceased back to Pakistan for burial.

The tragic incident has plunged the victims’ hometown of Arifwala into mourning, with relatives and local residents grieving the loss of the three family members and awaiting the return of their bodies.

Earlier, two people, a man and a woman believed to be a married couple, have been killed in an accident after a speeding trailer truck crushed their car at a traffic signal on Lahore’s Garhi Shahu, Allama Iqbal Road, rescue officials say.

A child dead body was also recovered from the car by the rescue teams.

According to the rescue officials, the car was trapped beneath the trailer, and rescue workers had to cut through the wreckage to recover the bodies.

Officials said the crash appeared to have been caused by speeding.

The truck driver fled the scene after the accident, according to the information available.

Police have launched an investigation and were present at the site alongside rescue teams.

The bodies were being prepared for transfer to a nearby hospital.

A similar incident took place in front of the University of Okara, where a student died after being critically injured in a bus accident on the National Highway outside the university on October 7.

The student, identified as Ammar, died while receiving treatment in hospital, according to reports.

Four students were injured in the incident and were taken to hospital for medical treatment.

According to initial reports, the students were standing on the road and attempting to stop a bus when another bus, reportedly travelling at high speed, tried to pass through the area, leading to the collision.

The circumstances surrounding the crash have raised concerns among students and members of the university community, particularly over road safety near the campus.
